Our Future of Disputes Latin America Virtual Programme brought our diverse team of cross-border experts to host two virtual sessions to discuss and share their insights about key topics and challenges for your businesses in the region over the next year. During the first session, our speakers shared about the challenges and solutions for investment protection in Latin America, focusing on corporate restructuring and the scope of investment protection. For the second session, guest partners from Trench Rossi Watanabe talked about the impacts of Covid-19 on litigation and the key trends of ESG related litigation in the region.
The ongoing political changes happening throughout Latin America may drive significant changes to economic policies across the region. These changes have the likelihood of impacting foreign investments in Latin American countries. In this session, members of our Latin American Dispute Resolution practice took a closer look at the new political scenarios unfolding in several countries, and at the future of investment disputes in the region. Our team shared insights on the possibility of corporate restructuring under existing legislation, and strategies for litigation preparation to help your organization be ready for the times ahead.

As a result of the economic instability spawned by Covid-19, new causes for disputes have arisen in Brazil in a complex scenario riddled with economic and financial imbalance between parties.
In an even more relevant trend, companies have been strengthening their ESG pillars, which in turn has been triggering new ESG-related litigation.
That said, as the economy sets clear signs of recovery, and yet the business environment is still quite challenging, during this session speakers debated the future prospects of litigation in the region and its reflexes across the globe in a post-pandemic world.
