Betty Wong is a special counsel in Baker McKenzie's Hong Kong office and a member of the Firm's Capital Markets Practice Group.

Practice Focus

Betty’s practice focuses on both public and private mergers and acquisitions, including public takeovers, privatizations, strategic investments and joint ventures. She also advises on corporate finance, including secondary capital raisings, and securities-related advisory and compliance, including strategies on trading suspension and resumption of listed companies.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Advised Hengxing Gold Holding Company Limited (HKEx: 2303) in relation to a privatization proposal taken out by Shandong Gold Mining Co., Ltd. (H Share) (HKEx: 1787) by way of a scheme of arrangement.

  • Advised AVIC International Holding Corporation on the privatisation of AVIC International Holdings Limited (H-share) (HKEx: 161) (delisted).

  • Advised Asian Citrus Holdings Limited (HKEx: 73) on successfully resuming trading of its shares on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

  • Advised a Korean based multi-national conglomerate on its strategic investments in, divestments of, listed companies in HK.

  • Advised Yuexiu Property Company Limited (HKEx: 123) on Guangzhou Metro's HKD 6 billion strategic equity investment in it, and its RMB 14.1 billion acquisition of majority equity interests owning "Yue Galaxy", Guangzhou PRC.

  • Advised China Evergrande New Energy Vehicle Group Limited (formerly known as Evergrande Health Industry Group Limited) (HKEx: 708) on its USD 930 million acquisition of a majority stake in National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB involving SAAB Automobile AB, Sweden.

  • Advised on the consortium formation of West Knighton Limited, and its privatisation of Cityneon Holdings Limited (SGX: 5HJ) (delisted).

  • Advised Spring REIT (HKEx: 1426) on its successful defence against PAG Real Estate's HKD 5.7 billion (USD 730 million) unsolicited takeover bid.

  • Advised Samling Global Limited (HKEx: 3938) (delisted) on the privatisation by member's scheme.

  • Advised China LotSynergy Holdings Ltd. (HKEx: 1371) on its HKD 650 million convertible bond exchange offer and transfer of listing from GEM Board to Main Board on the HK Stock Exchange.
