Biography

Jesus Daniel Villegas Gutierrez is part of the Dispute Resolution Practice Group in the Bogota office of Baker McKenzie where he represents and advises national and international clients in legal proceedings before Colombian civil law courts and bankruptcy courts, arbitration tribunals conducted under the rules of arbitration of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá, and the rules of arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

Prior to joining the Firm, Jesus worked as counsel for the office of the Minister of Transportation of Colombia in connection with regulatory transport and infrastructure issues of toll road concessions, harbors and airports as well as tax incentives for the transportation industry. Jesus also worked at a boutique law firm specialized in international commercial arbitration, getting involved in arbitration proceedings representing the National Agency of Infrastructure (ANI).

Jesus represented his alma mater Externado University's in various international investment arbitration moot court competitions in United States and Colombia.

Practice Focus

Jesus focuses his practice on private and public law, road infrastructure, financial law, insolvency and bankruptcy proceedings and international arbitration, providing legal counsel to national and multinational clients, and supporting litigation before domestic courts.
