Biography

Jason van de Pol is a senior associate in the Corporate Practice Group and Energy, Mining & Infrastructure Practice Group of Baker McKenzie Amsterdam and specializes in projects, corporate finance, business combinations and M&A transactions in the energy, mining and infrastructure and climate change sectors. Jason is a member of the Dutch Society of Energy Law (Nederlandse Vereniging voor Energierecht) as well as the International Project Finance Association (IPFA).

Practice Focus

Jason represents developers, investors, lenders and governments on developments, project financings, public-private partnerships (PPPs) and secondary market transactions in the energy and infrastructure sectors. His experience in the energy sector includes advising on power generation (renewables and conventional), oil and gas, and petrochemicals, with a particular focus on renewable energy and clean technology.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Advised Eurus Energy Group on the acquisition in the Netherlands of nine wind farms with a total output capacity of 72.5 MW.
  • Advised a large international gas company in respect of their participation in certain fields in the Dutch and UK Exclusive Economic Zone.
  • Acted as the lenders' lead counsel on the amendment and restatement of the project financing for two onshore wind farms in the western part of Finland in light of an acquisition of the wind farms.
  • Lead counsel to Triodos Bank and Triodos Groenfonds on the project financing of wind farm Bouwdokken.
  • Advised a consortium of AkzoNobel, DSM, Philips and Google in contracting for renewable power in the Netherlands with respect to Windfarm Krammer.
  • Advised several clients on renewable and conventional energy related projects.

Prior to joining Baker McKenzie, Jason acted on the following matters:

  • Advised one of the largest integrated energy and commodity trading companies in the world on the acquisition of certain gas assets in the Dutch exclusive economic zone of the North Sea.
  • Advised the lenders and their lead-counsel in a USD12.5 billion financing for the construction of an integrated petrochemicals production complex in Jubail, Saudi Arabia.
  • Advised certain sponsors on the project financing for a wind farm off the coast of Zeebrugge, Belgium.
  • Advised several clients on renewable and conventional energy related projects.
