Biography

Alex is an associate in the London Banking and Finance Practice Group and advises lenders, ECAs and borrowers on a variety of financings with an increasing focus on emerging markets, export and trade finance, acquisition finance and restructuring transactions.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Advised Jain Irrigation Systems Limited on its ongoing multijurisdictional bank and bond debt restructuring of USD 200 million notes issued by its wholly owned Dutch subsidiary, implemented by way of an English law scheme of arrangement.

  • Advised Barclays Bank PLC and Macquarie Corporate Holdings Pty Limited (UK Branch) in respect of a GBP 20,000,000 super senior revolving facility made available to NASDAQ-listed Inspired Entertainment, Inc. in connection with a concurrent GBP 235,000,000 five-year senior secured notes offering by the same.

  • Advised Standard Chartered Bank as the Global ECA Coordinator, Mandated Lead Arranger, Structuring Bank and Green Loan Coordinator, Eksport Kredit Fonden (EKF, the Danish ECA), Swedish Export Credit Corporation (SEK), Exportkreditnämnden (EKN, the Swedish ECA) and a number of commercial lenders in respect of a EUR 1.24 billion green financing for the Ministry of Treasury and Finance of Türkiye to fund the development of a new high-speed railway line.

  • Advised UBS Switzerland AG and Banque Cantonale Vaudoise as mandated lead arrangers on the financing for Dec Group's acquisition of the Extract Technology business from Wabash National Corporation from an English law perspective.

  • Acted for the lenders in connection with a GBP 24,000,000 facility made available to a corporate for the purposes of acquiring a target operating in the power generation market.

  • Acted for the lenders in respect of a USD 400,000,000 pandemic mitigation facility made available to an African sovereign (through a state owned entity).

  • Advised a syndicate of lenders in respect of a USD 830,000,000 facility together with an uncommitted accordion option of up to USD 470,000,000 made available to an African sovereign (through a state owned entity).

  • Advised a lender in respect of a USD 684,070,000 financing package (which comprised of a term facility, letters of credit facility and a bid bond facility) made available to an African telecommunications provider for the purposes of acquiring certain telecommunications licenses.

  • Acted for the agent in respect of certain amendments made to the facility documentation of: (i) a USD 1,500,000,000 facility; and (ii) a USD 2,000,000,000 facility for an African sovereign (through a state owned entity).

  • Acted for the lenders and export credit agencies in connection with ECA-covered facility agreements and tied commercial facility agreements which are to finance certain infrastructure projects to an African sovereign.

  • Acted for the lender in connection with certain amendments made to the facility documentation of a USD 25,250,000 facility to a borrower based in Nigeria.

  • Advised a US-based borrower in respect of a USD 25,000,000 facility from an English law perspective made available for certain acquisition purposes.
