Biography

David is a member of the North America Litigation & Government Enforcement Practice Group in Baker McKenzie’s Los Angeles office. Prior to joining Baker McKenzie, David was an associate at another top-tier global law firm. While in law school, David was a Law Clerk at the US Attorney's Office in the Organized Crime Division and a Legal Extern at the US Securities and Exchange Commission in the Enforcement Division, both in San Francisco.

Practice Focus

David has represented clients in enforcement actions brought by the Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, relating to securities and commodities trading. David has also represented clients in complex commercial litigation, with a focus on disputes relating to structured products and the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Representative Legal Matters

Prior to joining Baker McKenzie, David handled the following matters:

  • Represented a global financial institution in an enforcement action brought by the Chicago Mercantile Exchange relating to its commodities trading activities.

  • Represented a global financial institution in a complaint filed by certain ERISA plan trustees against numerous defendants related to the servicing of securitized mortgage loans.

  • Represented a global financial institution in several matters related to its activities as remarketing agent for variable rate demand obligations (“VRDOs”) issued by agencies or units of state and local government.

  • Advised a US-based corporate trustee with respect to portfolios impacted by LIBOR transition, including conducting portfolio-wide risk impact assessments, analyzing various consumer products, and developing litigation contingency plans.
