Hitoshi Sumiya

Hitoshi Sumiya has more than 20 years of experience advising on corporate finance and investment banking. He has written various articles on debt, equity, bond and REIT offerings. Mr. Sumiya has been a member of government-sponsored REIT working groups.

Practice Focus

Mr. Sumiya has extensive knowledge in securities regulations and acts for a number of investment banks, trust banks and issuers in relation to capital markets and M&A transactions. He represents underwriters and issuers for the international and domestic offering of equity, bonds and REITs. He also handles tender offers, debt restructuring — including debt-equity swap — debt assumption and corporate reorganizations. In addition, Mr. Sumiya assists non-Japanese clients on litigation and handled Japan’s first international share/cash tender offer and debt-equity swaps for recapitalization.
