Biography

Dr. Maximilian Raschhofer has more than 10 years of experience in complex tech-related litigations. After graduating from the Law School of the University of Vienna in 2006 as the third best graduate, Maximilian acquired his doctoral degree in the area of data protection and hosting provider liability and acted as Vice Director for the European Center for E-Commerce and Internet Law from 2007 to 2010. From 2010 to 2018 he worked as Associate, Senior Associate and then Counsel at one of Austria’s biggest law firms where he handled complex tech-and health-related matters, in particular administrative (criminal) proceedings and litigations and finally gained valuable in-house experience at one of the largest Austrian insurance corporations, handling in particular GDPR compliance and complex regulatory matters.

Practice Focus

Maximilian advises national and international clients on complex tech-related matters, in particular administrative (criminal) proceedings and tech litigations, including data protection litigations and outsourcing disputes.

Representative Legal Matters

Prior to joining the Firm, Maximilian handled the following matters:

  • Represented one of the biggest social network providers in a litigation against one of the most famous Austrian data protection activists.

  • Represented one of Russia’s most well known steel companies against the supplier of complex technical equipment in mediation proceedings carried out in Russia and Austria.

  • Advised one of the largest Austrian supermarket chains in a dispute that arose from the purchase of a fully automatic logistics center designed for the handling of tens of millions of goods each day.

  • Advised several health care providers on set up of online medical practices.

  • Represented Italian supplier of highly complex construction machines against one of the biggest Austrian construction companies claiming that said machines had numerous technical defects.
