Claudia F. Prado


Claudia F. Prado is a member of the Firm's Global Executive Committee, chairing the Firm's Financial Committee and Diversity & Inclusion Committee, and is the Regional Chairman of the Latin America Regional Council. Previously, she was the managing partner at Trench, Rossi e Watanabe Advogados, a Brazilian law firm with a cooperation agreement with Baker McKenzie, where she chaired the Firm’s Corporate & Securities and Mergers & Acquisitions practice groups. She also served as a member of the Steering Committees for Baker McKenzie’s Global Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Equity practice groups.

Claudia joined Trench, Rossi e Watanabe in 1985 and became a partner in 1992. With more than 30 years of experience with the Firm in advising clients, she has received various recognitions throughout her career most recently including a nomination as a leading lawyer in M&A in Brazil by Chambers & Partners, being named the 2012 Brazil Law Firm Leader of the Year and a 2013 Inspiring Woman in Law by Latin Lawyer magazine, and a distinction as a 2010 Leading Woman Executive in Brazil by Valor Economico, the country's leading business publication.

Most recently, she received the 2015 Diversity Initiative of the Year Award from Latin Lawyer magazine, one of Latin America's leading legal publications, as recognition of her efforts and commitment to furthering the advancement of women in the region's legal profession.

Practice Focus

Claudia has extensive experience in advising clients on capital markets, corporate law, as well as mergers and acquisitions. She is particularly proficient in deals involving the acquisition and sale of companies. Claudia has also advised on joint ventures, from planning transactions to drafting and negotiating related agreements, in addition to working with clients on general corporate matters, corporate restructuring and regulatory matters in capital markets.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Represented major companies, such as Motorola, Archer Daniels Midland, Emerson Electric Company, Procter & Gamble and General Electric, in several acquisition deals in Brazil.
