Biography

Leanne Olden joined Baker McKenzie in 2015, and specialises in advising clients in relation to all aspects of construction, with a focus on the water and renewable energy sectors.

Practice Focus

Leanne acts in a wide range of transactional matters in the construction and engineering sectors. This includes drafting and negotiating contract documents for principals, contractors, financiers, consultants, and suppliers in relation to infrastructure projects, as well as both commercial and residential developments.

Leanne also acts for clients in the construction and engineering sector in litigation and other disputes, including arbitration, mediation or other ADR process.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Acted for South East Water in relation to the significant upgrade of the Lang Lang and Boneo water treatment facilities, including preparation and negotiation of the construction agreements with the relevant contractors.

  • Genex (Solar) Pty Ltd in relation to the construction of the Kidston Pumped Storage project, and Kidston Solar Farms, including the preparation of EPC and O&M contracts and due diligence reporting for ARENA and financiers.

  • Advising Voith Hydro as electrical and mechanical subcontractor on the Snowy 2.0 project, including the negotiation and finalisation of all relevant project documents. 

  • Advising the project banks (as well as the Agent and Hedge Banks) on the EPC and O&M Contract aspects of the project financing of the Bulgana Green Power Hub (BGPH), an integrated wind farm and battery storage facility and Neoen's largest single-stage project in Australia.

  • DP Energy in relation to the EPC and O&M Contracts for the development of the Port Augusta Renewable Energy Park, being a 375MW wind and solar farm project in Port Augusta, South Australia. 

  • Assisting in the due diligence of the O&M contracts for various wind farms owned by Pacific Hydro on behalf of a potential purchaser of those assets. 

  • Foresight Solar in relation to the EPC and O&M contracts for the Bannerton Solar Farm. 

  • Canadian Solar in relation to the construction and maintenance of two solar farms which were awarded ARENA funding. 

  • Advising a contractor in relation to the construction and maintenance of an off-grid energy solution for a residential development in New South Wales. 

  • Advised the University of Melbourne in relation to all construction elements of the development of the Bio21 Institute with CSL Limited.

  • Advised a large American contractor in relation to their tender to be a key subcontractor in relation to rail automation projects being undertaken by the BHP Billiton Joint Venture.

  • Advised the University of Tasmania in relation to the development of the Theatre Royal precinct in conjunction with the Tasmanian government.

  • Advised O-I in relation to their furnace refurbishment projects.
