Matt Mock is a partner in the Chicago office who focuses on state and local tax litigation and planning. Mr. Mock often gives speeches on tax issues for various organizations, including the Tax Executive Institute and The Council On State Taxation.
Mr. Mock regularly represents clients at all stages of state and local tax controversies — from audit, to protests before state administrative agencies, through appeals to state courts — involving a wide variety of state and local tax issues, including sales tax, income tax, and unclaimed property disputes. He advises multinational companies on the state and local tax aspects of corporate restructurings and transactions, providing counsel on the application of the myriad state and local transfer taxes, as well as issues created by the significant differences between state taxes and jurisdictional standards and those presented by US and international tax regimes.
