Biography

Josh is an associate with the Banking and Finance department at Baker McKenzie LLP, joining the Firm's London office as a trainee in March 2018 and qualifying in March 2020.

Josh trained with the Structured Capital Markets, Private Equity and Banking teams in Baker McKenzie London, spent six months on client secondment at Standard Chartered Bank and spent three months on secondment in Baker McKenzie's Dubai Banking team.

Josh focuses on trade finance, restructuring and insolvency, funds finance and general banking.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Acting for the finance parties throughout a USD 1.5 billion financing of a light railway project in Africa. This financing involved two ECA-backed facilities and a facility provided by several African Development Finance Institutions.

  • Acting for the Agent and ECA lender in a EUR 50 million financing for a West African government, to be used for the construction of water treatment plants.

  • Acting for Investec Bank plc in its EUR 55 million financing of a Spanish investment fund, including preparation of finance documents and due diligence on fund parties.

  • Acting for a debt fund throughout its various secondary debt trades (totalling around USD 50 million), involving reviewing and preparing trade documents and advising on underlying credit documentation.

  • Acting for the Finance Parties in a series of financings (USD 500 million and USD 1.1 billion) for a Sub-Saharan African state oil producer.

  • Acting for the Finance Parties on a EUR 100 million real estate financing of the acquisition and development of German supermarket sites.

  • Acting for the Agent and ECA lender in a EUR 160 million financing for a West African government, to be used for the expansion and renovation of hospitals.

  • Advising a multinational agricultural products company on its bond debt restructuring and assisting with the preparation of documentation for its scheme of arrangement.

  • Acting for Investec Bank plc in its EUR 75 million financing of a European real estate investment fund, including preparation of finance documents and due diligence on fund parties.
