Biography

May Lu frequently works on issues involving labor law and major projects. A partner in the Firm's Taiwan office, she is also a member of the International Pacific Bar Association and the Taipei Bar Association. Ms. Lu received her law degree from the National Taiwan University, and is fluent in Mandarin, Taiwanese and English.

Practice Focus

Ms. Lu focuses on employment law issues arising from mergers and acquisitions, contracts related to hiring and ethical rules. She also advises on matters related to employee benefits and occupational hazard liability, among others. Ms. Lu is experienced in handling labor disputes — including private settlements and labor lawsuits due to layoffs and massive severance — as well as in litigating civil, criminal and administrative lawsuits for various industry clients. She has advised on negotiations with unions for several leading Taiwan companies. With respect to her work on major projects, Ms. Lu has advised on the preparation of tenders for public construction and BOT projects, and has represented clients in negotiating key agreements. She also works with the government on planning and developing major projects.

  • Representing a bidding supplier in an appeal to Public Construction Commission, Executive Yuan, against the Taoyuan County government over a disqualification decision.
  • Representing a bidding supplier in an appeal to the Public Construction Commission, Executive Yuan, against the Taipei City government over a disqualification decision.
  • Representing the bid winner in negotiating a preparatory agreement with the Ministry of Transportation & Communication and advising on the legal issues relevant to land development.
  • Representing the bid winner in negotiating an investment agreement with the Taipei City government and advising on the legal issues relevant to land development.
  • Representing the bid winner in negotiating the consultancy agreement with the owner and advising on the legal issues relevant to land development.
  • Representing the project company against landlords on transmission lines disputes.
  • Advising the bidding supplier on the Preparation of Bid and land issues.
  • Advising developers on environmental issues.
