Biography

Dr. Franz Leisch is a Partner of the Baker McKenzie Munich office and member of the Corporate Practice Group. He has been practising law for more than 20 years. From 1999-2007 he was a lecturer at the University of Augsburg, where he taught civil law, commercial law, corporate law and capital markets law, and furnished various legal opinions for companies and law firms in the field of corporate and capital markets law. Franz joined the Firm in 2007. Franz is lecturer for compliance at the University of Augsburg and author of several standard reference works. He is a regular speaker on compliance and corporate governance.

Practice Focus

Franz advises local and international clients on compliance related matters, corporate governance, board matters and general stock corporation law. His widespread practical experience includes the financial services sector, automotive, healthcare, engineering industry, infrastructure, and consumer goods. He has developed tailored tools and processes for risk analysis, business partner screening, internal control systems and CMS maturity tests. His compliance focus areas are anti-money laundering, anticorruption and fraud prevention.

  • Conduct of business partner integrity assessments (AML, fraud prevention, anticorruption).
  • Conducting internal investigations, in particular in the field of anticorruption, fraud and AML.
  • Conducting various compliance due diligences in M&A transactions.
