Biography

Matthias Jannausch is a member of Baker McKenzie’s Antitrust & Competition practice group. Prior to joining as an associate, he worked for the team as a research assistant for several years, gaining significant experience in all areas of competition law. During his legal traineeship, he worked in the Firm’s Compliance & Dispute Resolution team in the Munich office, focusing on white collar crime and compliance matters. He also spent several years working as a research assistant in a Cologne law firm specializing in white collar crime prior to joining the Firm.

Practice Focus

Matthias advises on all aspects of German and European antitrust and competition law, with a focus on complex merger control proceedings and antitrust investigations before German and European competition authorities and courts. He also regularly assists clients in international investigations and in the implementation of compliance programs.

  • Advised Aurubis in complex phase 2 EU merger proceedings in relation to the acquisition of Metallo Group.

  • Advised LKQ in EU merger control proceedings and subsequent national referral proceedings in relation to the acquisition of Stahlgruber.

  • Advised a leading Swiss manufacturer of specialty chemicals in EU merger control proceedings.

  • Advised a leading global manufacturer of automotive components in EU merger control proceedings.

  • Regularly advises an US-based Private Equity Fund in merger control proceedings.
