Samir Hamza is a co-founder of and senior counsel to Helmy, Hamza & Partners, Baker McKenzie Cairo. He joined Baker McKenzie as an associate in the Chicago office in January 1977 and later went on to participate in the establishment of both the Riyadh and Cairo offices of the Firm, where he eventually became a partner. Samir focuses his practice on the legal areas of capital markets, banking and finance, corporate, commercial, technology, media and telecoms, intellectual property, and oil and gas. He has written numerous articles and presented lectures in his chosen field. He also contributed to the passing of several Egyptian laws, such as the Egyptian Telecommunication Law No. 10 of 2003, drafting the acquisition rules under the Capital Markets Law, which was amended by adding chapter 12 related to the IPOs for the acquisitions, and the Egyptian Intellectual Property Law, where he participated in the discussions surrounding copy marks and trademarks.
