Linda Hamilton is a consultant in Baker McKenzie's Sydney office. She focuses on advising clients on a range of insurance issues arising both in a commercial setting, as well as through litigation. Linda has had high-level insurance industry experience. For several years, she was the national claims manager of liability, professional and financial risks for a global insurer. As a result, Linda is able to offer clients insight and advice from both sides of the insurance fence. Over the last 25 years she has acted for commercial clients, domestic insurers, Lloyd's syndicates, insurance agents and reinsurers.
Linda provides advice that is both technical and practical. She advises on insurance clauses in contractual matters, their meaning and effect; policy interpretation, the preferred methods of risk transferral between parties to contracts, as well as on the engagement and conduct of expert and factual investigations. Linda has acted and had responsibility for many insurance-related matters over her career. She has acted as the insurer, for the insurer, and for the insured.
