Cheryl Elliott has been a partner in the Firm’s Toronto office since 1989. She regularly advises clients on a broad range of labor law matters. Ms. Elliott has written numerous articles on employment law, and is the author of Ontario’s Equity Laws: A Guide to Pay and Employment Equity, as well as several other publications. She is listed in Best Lawyers Canada.
Ms. Elliott provides strategic human resources advice to private and public sector employers on a domestic and international scale. She is knowledgeable in the legal aspects of employee terminations, wrongful dismissal claims, drafting employment contracts, as well as the review and drafting of employment policies. Ms. Elliott also guides clients through employment standards matters, pay and employment equity, and human rights obligations. She counsels on commercial transactions in the context of labor law issues, including purchases, mergers and amalgamations. In addition, she is experienced in working with unionized employers on collective agreement interpretation, grievance mediation and collective bargaining.
