Biography

Ron Dorward has approximately 20 years' experience advising inbound and outbound clients on transfer pricing matters in New Zealand and Germany. Ron has an understanding of the full range of transfer pricing-related issues, including planning, controversy and documentation at both the strategic and tactical levels as well as a willingness to bring his experience to bear on solving clients' problems, including by taking advantage of technology solutions. He has a proven ability to manage and successfully conclude large and complex projects as well as experience of leading teams to bring value to clients.

Practice Focus

Ron has experience in a variety of transfer pricing matters including preparation of both in- and outbound documentation, developing and implementing documentation processes, planning, restructuring and implementation as well as responding to tax authority enquiries and investigations. His industry experience includes: automotive, air transport, large-scale engineering, chemicals and technology.

Representative Legal Matters

Prior to joining the Firm, he engaged in

  • Bilateral APA to support the non-standard remuneration of the EMEA distribution activities of a US inbound Group.

  • Bilateral APA to support the remuneration of a German out bound group's Indian operations.

  • Large project to review the transfer pricing implications of an operational reorganisation, including close cooperation with management consultants.

  • Successful defence of transfer prices of an inbound pharmaceutical company in two German tax audit cycles.

  • Design management and operation of a successful global TP documentation project covering over 300 subsidiaries in 70 countries over two generations for 5+ years.

  • Development of an IT tool to significantly improve quality of quantitative data as well as automate the economic analysis with transfer pricing documentation.
