Dean Dolan is counsel to Baker McKenzie’s Toronto office. A highly regarded privacy lawyer, Dean has served on the executive committee of the Ontario Bar Association's Privacy Law Section, the advisory board of the Conference Board of Canada's Chief Privacy Officer's Council, the Retail Council of Canada's Privacy Committee, and the board of directors of the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers. He is an IAPP Certified Information Privacy Professional and is Co-Chair of the IAPP's Toronto KnowledgeNet Chapter. He has been recognized as the Data Protection Law Expert for Canada by Global Law Experts for 2018.
Dean is an author and frequent speaker on privacy, employment and litigation matters. Prior to joining the Firm, he served as Vice-President, Associate General Counsel and Privacy Officer for a large multinational retailer in Canada.
Dean's practice focuses on information governance and privacy, and he provides companies strategic advice on the management and retention of their information globally. In particular, he works with a team of information specialists on Baker McKenzie's leading iG360 platform, recently recognized by The Financial Times as a standout innovative solution in the compliance and technology category.
