Jimmie M. Covington is an associate in Baker McKenzie's Corporate & Securities Practice Group in Chicago. Prior to joining the Firm, Jimmie was a student-attorney in the Howard Investor Justice and Education Clinic, a member of the Securities & Exchange Commission Student Honors Program, and a senior editor of the Howard Human and Civil Rights Law Review.
Jimmie focuses his practice on alternative investment fund matters, advising clients on the structuring and formation of, and investment in, international and domestic private investment funds including private equity funds and fund-of-funds. He also advises clients in connection with their investment activities and legal issues, including issues concerning the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and the Investment Company Act of 1940. He has also advised multinational clients on transactional matters, including domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, and other strategic transactions.
