Carlo Abarquez is an associate in Quisumbing Torres’ Intellectual Property Practice Group and Information Technology & Communications Industry Group. He has eight years of legal experience advising and representing clients in IP- and IT-related matters. He also counsels clients on compliance with consumer product laws. He is the first local office recipient of the regional Chris Lim Award, given to notable IP associates of Baker & McKenzie and its member firms in Asia Pacific. Mr. Abarquez teaches IP law at the Lyceum of the Philippines University College of Law. He is a supervising lawyer at the Ateneo de Manila University Law School Legal Services Center.
Mr. Abarquez assists and advises clients on a wide range of issues relating to the protection and enforcement of their IP rights. He also advises clients on customs-related matters arising from IP and IT issues. He handles trademark, copyright and patent registration and portfolio management as well as trademark prosecution and other IP violations cases. Mr. Abarquez also handles advice on data privacy laws and data protection including reviewing data polices of clients and compliance issues that clients face in relation to data privacy and protection. He also deals with Food and Drug Administration queries, registrations and enforcements.
