Global law firm Baker McKenzie advised Galapagos, a Belgian headquartered biotechnology company listed on Nasdaq and Euronext, on its acquisition of two companies, CellPoint and AboundBio. CellPoint, a Netherlands headquartered, privately held biotechnology company dedicated to developing CAR-T therapies at the point-of-care, was acquired for an upfront amount of €125 million, with milestone payments up to €100 million. AboundBio, a U.S. headquartered, privately held biotechnology company focused on developing innovative antibody-based biological therapeutics for cancers of unmet medical need, was acquired for an amount of $14million. The transactions have been fully executed and the acquisitions were consummated on 21 June 2022. Both acquisitions will accelerate Galapagos' access to next generation cell therapies, significantly broaden their portfolio and will serve to position Galapagos in the next-generation cancer therapy market.

The Baker McKenzie team that advised on the CellPoint transaction was led by Rebecca Kuijpers-Zimmerman (Amsterdam) and Roel Meers (Brussels), supported by Casper Henschen (Amsterdam), Oren Livne (New York) and Els Janssens (Belgium).
