• Firm climbs from 17th to 10th in Global Arbitration Review rankings for international arbitration.

Leading global law firm Baker McKenzie has jumped seven places to be ranked Top 10 in the world for International Arbitration by Global Arbitration Review (GAR), the world's leading source of international arbitration news.

The GAR 30 ranks firms primarily on the number of arbitral hearings conducted over a two-year period. Firms receive additional credit for working on higher-value disputes and for activities that reflect a strong reputation in the market.

Claudia Benavides, Global Chair of the Disputes Resolution Practice at Baker McKenzie commented, “We are delighted to be recognized in the top ten of the GAR 30. Our dispute resolution team includes experienced arbitration practitioners with global knowledge and deep roots in their home jurisdictions — drawing on the wisdom gained from local and international training, as well as cultural understanding to drive our clients’ dispute strategies. It is a credit to our people that they have been recognized by GAR as a top ten international firm.”

Ed Poulton, Global Chair of International Arbitration at Baker McKenzie said, “International arbitrations are becoming more frequent, more complex and more costly as corporations and financial institutions face new and heightened operating risks. Against this backdrop we are proud to count on a group of extremely knowledgeable arbitration practitioners around the globe who are able to provide local and multinational clients with the best insights, counsel and legal advice.”

With over 350 arbitration practitioners in key emerging markets and major financial and arbitration centers worldwide, Baker McKenzie’s International Arbitration practice is one of the largest, busiest and most ranked arbitration teams in the world. The Firm is already on the ground when disputes arise, providing easy access and cost savings, backed by the strength and resources of a global law firm.
