Leading global law firm Baker McKenzie has advised Cargill, a leader in the global food industry, in the purchase of 24.5% of Salmones Multiexport S.A. (Multi X) and in the incorporation of Cargill as a strategic partner in Multi X.
With Cargill as a new strategic partner, Multi X expects to increase its reach to more consumers with affordable, high-quality seafood products.
The team was led by partners Jaime Munro and Fernando Castro, supported by associates Martín Müller, Cristóbal Larrain, Verónica Barrios, José Ignacio Berner, Macarena Salazar and María Elena Dörr in Chile.
Jaime Munro said, "It has been very challenging and rewarding for us to work closely together with Rafael Yaryd and Cargill’s inside legal team during this process, and we are proud that Baker McKenzie has advised Cargill on this complex transaction involving a tripartite partnership with Multiexport Foods S.A. and Mitsui. We are positive that this investment is aligned with Cargill's purpose of nourishing the world in a safe, responsible and sustainable way, and that it will prove to be a valuable contribution to Multi X".
The deal was signed on March 17 and is subject to certain regulatory approvals and the fulfillment of conditions agreed by the parties.
