Baker McKenzie is pleased to announce that North America Chief Executive Officer Colin Murray has pledged his commitment to the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s (LCLD) Leaders at the Front initiative. Leaders at the Front is designed to dismantle systemic barriers preventing underrepresented attorneys from achieving the highest levels of leadership within law firms and corporate legal departments.
“Working with our leadership and Inclusion and Diversity Team, we have created an action plan for myself and our Firm in North America aimed at advancing diversity, equity and inclusion and supporting underrepresented attorneys to grow in their careers at Baker McKenzie and in the wider legal profession," said Colin. "I call on my colleagues to join me and our firm in making a similar commitment to inclusion so that together we can create meaningful impact in our organizations and broader legal and business communities. This is an opportunity for us to choose actions over words. I am proud to be a part of this movement and to have the opportunity to continue to drive change."
Through the Leaders at the Front initiative, LCLD asked its more than 400 members, who include corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners, to make personal commitments to DEI and implement organizational changes that are specific, meaningful and measurable. LCLD provides resources to help its members create impactful pledges and provides a platform for leaders to share plans and best practices to encourage a collective voice across the industry and further transformational change.
Colin's and Baker McKenzie's pledges are available here and include a commitment to inclusion and diversity in the leadership path of the Firm, how they serve clients, how they recruit, develop, and promote colleagues from underrepresented groups, and how they implement policies, practices and initiatives throughout the Firm.
