Global law firm, Baker McKenzie, has acted as international counsel to specialty chemicals company, Celanese, on the acquisition of DuPont's Mobility & Materials business for approximately USD 11 billion. 
 
DuPont's Mobility & Materials business is a leading global producer of engineering thermoplastics and elastomers serving a variety of end-uses including automotive, electrical and electronics, consumer goods, and industrial applications.
 
As per the terms, Celanese will acquire a global production network of 29 facilities, including compounding and polymerization, customer and supplier contracts and agreements, industry-leading intellectual property portfolio including approximately 850 patents with associated technical and R&D assets, and approximately 5,000 highly-skilled employees across the manufacturing, technical, and commercial organizations.
 
The Baker McKenzie team was led by Corporate Partner, Jannan Crozier (London) and Employment Partner, Alexander Wolff (Berlin). Kirkland & Ellis acted as US Counsel to Celanese. Skadden acted as Counsel for DuPont. 
 
The transaction is expected to close around the end of 2022.
