Leading global law Firm, Baker McKenzie, received the highest rating in the fifth “HRC Equidad MX” survey conducted by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation in Mexico, positioning itself among the 242 companies that stand out for their policies and practices related to the inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people, for the fourth consecutive year.
The “HRC Equidad MX 2022” report evaluates policies and practices related to the inclusion of LGBT+ community in the workplace; the existence of internal diversity and inclusion councils and employee groups; as well as the organization's public commitment to society and LGBT+ issues. This year, 242 companies received the highest score in the index. The program seeks to continue expanding this network of inclusive employers throughout the country having the participation of over 250 companies providing jobs to more than a million people in Mexico.
Baker McKenzie’s efforts to meet all of these criteria have resulted in a 100% score, positioning the Firm as one of the "Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality" and placing it among the 200+ leading employers in LGBT+ inclusion in Mexico, according to the fifth edition of the index.
In this regard, Miriam Villafaña, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility of the Firm for Mexico, said, "This is, without a doubt, another proof that we are on the right path as an employer, we are very happy to receive this recognition once again. I'm very proud to be in a Firm that celebrates diversity and works to make all of its talent feel welcome and safe to be their most authentic selves".
This recognition represents a key achievement for the Firm’s diversity and inclusion initiatives, which are part of its Corporate Social Responsibility strategy. Throughout the last few years, the Firm has participated in a number of activities to support a more inclusive culture towards the LGBT+ community
Since 2018, the Firm is member of Pride Connection, a network that gathers over a hundred companies and organizations to share best practices on LGBT+ inclusion. In addition, on 2021 the Firm joined a group of companies to form the BritCham Pride Alliance and is a member of HRC's business council in Mexico.
Over the last few years they also launched a business resource group - Baker Pride + Allies-, participated in the Pride March in Mexico City, each year commemorates observation dates such as Spirit Day, IDAHOBIT and Pride Month and engage in pro bono projects that specifically seek to contribute to further advance LGBT+ community inclusion among other activities.
