Baker McKenzie, leading global law firm, has appointed José Luis Yus as partner in charge of insolvency in its Madrid office. With this appointment, Baker McKenzie strengthens the team in response to client demand. José joins a Global Restructuring & Insolvency Group of more than 100 globally experienced, locally qualified specialists located across the globe.

José Luis, who comes from DA Lawyers, has an extensive professional career of more than 30 years in restructuring and insolvency advice, where he has worked in several national and international law firms such as Roca Junyent, BDO, Crowe Howarth, or Via Abogados, as well as in the Inspection Office of Credit and Savings Institutions of the Bank of Spain. José Luis is an expert in restructuring and insolvency processes, where he has advised both debtors and creditors in some of the most relevant insolvency proceedings in Spain. He has also served as insolvency administrator.

José Luis holds a degree in Law and Business Administration from the Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE E-3), 1986, is a Chartered Account Auditor, registered in the Official Register of Chartered Account Auditors and a Civil, Commercial and Bankruptcy Mediator. He has developed his lecturing activity in different areas, as a professor of insolvency practice in the Master of Access to the Legal Profession at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, as well as professor of the Insolvency Mediation Course at the Universidad de Alcalá de Henares.

José joins an expanding team in the EMEA| region, with Joachim Ponseck and Prof. Dr. Artur Swierczok having joined the Frankfurt team earlier in 2021, and hires made in Paris, Barcelona and Warsaw in 2020.
