Baker McKenzie advised Amsterdam-based Keesing Media Group (Keesing) on the acquisition of the Swiss Küng group. With this acquisition, Keesing will be able to strengthen its European market leadership for puzzles and braintainment games.

Keesing produces over 100 million puzzle magazines (printed books, digital versions and apps) each year in cooperation with many major brands, e.g., Denksport, Sanders and Sport Cérébral, in a vast variety of languages.

The Küng group has developed into the Swiss market leader in the puzzle sector over the past 20 years, showing healthy growth. The group offers puzzle magazines, books and digital publishing products. The deal will enable Keesing to develop a stronger foothold in the Swiss market and, at the same time, it will support the Küng group in its next phase of growth by continuing to expand in both the print and digital market.

Baker McKenzie advised Keesing on all the legal aspects of this acquisition. The team was led by Alexander Fischer (partner, Zurich) and Matthias Trautmann (counsel, Zurich), and further included Patricia Reichmuth (associate, Zurich), Ramon Tissafi (associate, Zurich), Sylvia Polydor (associate, Zurich), Gabrielle Tschopp (associate, Zurich), Zarina Fueglister (associate, Zurich) as well as Tiziana Hongler (trainee lawyer, Zurich).
