Baker McKenzie's Asia Pacific Tax Practice was once again recognized for its first-rate tax advice, winning six awards at the International Tax Review Asia-Pacific Tax Awards 2021, including the coveted "International Tax Law Firm of the Year" award. This is the fifth consecutive year that the Firm has won this regional award.

The Firm also took home the national award "Thailand Tax Firm of the Year." Meanwhile, member firms HHP Law Firm and Baker McKenzie Wong & Leow were named "Indonesia Tax Disputes Firm of the Year" and "Singapore Tax Firm of the Year," respectively.

In addition, the Firm was recognized for its role in advising Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets on its AUD 3 billion acquisition of an 88% stake in AirTrunk, a hyperscale data center platform provider across Asia Pacific, which was named "Impact Deal of the Year."

Moreover, Simone Bridges, a partner in Baker McKenzie's Sydney office, has been named "Indirect Tax Practice Leader of the Year."

Elsewhere, the Singapore team also won three awards at the WealthBriefingAsia Awards 2021. The Firm won the "Best Legal Team" and "Best Estate Planning" awards in the Private Client categories (Southeast Asia), while Principal Dawn Quek was "Leading Women in Wealth Management."

Commenting on these awards, Baker McKenzie's Tax Practice Asia Pacific Chair Brendan Kelly said: "The past year has been challenging and we have focused all of our efforts on supporting our clients across the region without the benefit of being able to meet our clients. That is a challenge for us as it is such a large part of the equation and how we work. Mindful of these challenges, we are thrilled to be named 'International Tax Law Firm of the Year,' which is an endorsement of the breadth and quality of our Tax Practice in Asia Pacific."

Brendan continued: "It is also particularly pleasing to see our female lawyers being recognized as leading practitioners in their respective fields. These awards reflect the strength and quality of our female lawyers who not only do great work, but help set a great example for our next generation of lawyers. I am honored to call them friends and colleagues, and I would like to congratulate Simone and Dawn on their personal achievements and also our teams in Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand on their wins."
