The next prominent addition to Baker McKenzie: Dr. Maximilian Raschhofer joins the Vienna office of the global law firm from the UNIQA Insurance Group. As counsel, he strengthens the IT and IP law practice around leading data protection expert Dr. Lukas Feiler since the beginning of May.

Raschhofer was in-house counsel at UNIQA Insurance Group since 2019. At the international insurance group, he was in charge of corporate-strategic important civil proceedings and was responsible for complex regulatory supervisory proceedings.

While still a student, he began working at the "European Center for E-Commerce and Internet Law" ("E-Center"). In 2007, he rose to the position of Vice President there.

"I've followed Maximilian Raschhofer's legal career since our time together at the European Center for E-Commerce," reports Lukas Feiler. "As one of the best lawyers in the country for technology-heavy complex disputes, he will support the reputation and growth of our practice quite significantly. We warmly welcome him to the team."

In 2010, Raschhofer  entered the legal profession: He started as an associate at the Austrian law firm Schönherr. After registering as an attorney, he rose to senior associate in 2014 and counsel in 2018. He represented international clients in technology-related matters, both in civil and public law proceedings. In addition, Raschhofer publishes regularly in scientific journals.

The young team around Lukas Feiler is now one of the largest and highest-turnover practices for IT/IP law in Austria: eleven lawyers and trademark specialists now work in this area at Baker McKenzie. In February 2021, the renowned IP lawyer Michaela Petsche moved from Schwarz Schönherr also to join Baker McKenzie.

The 37-year-old Raschhofer was particularly attracted by the firm's international footprint: "Baker McKenzie represents some of the most exciting global IT companies in all contentious IT matters. I am delighted to be able to contribute my expertise here."
