Baker McKenzie, leading global law firm, is bringing on Paloma Martínez-Lage as partner in charge of the Madrid office's Competition Department. With this appointment, Baker McKenzie is reinforcing its team and boosting a strategic practice area.

Hiring Paloma Martínez-Lage is part of the firm's decision to strengthen its global Antitrust & Competition team, which is made up of more than 320 lawyers located in 40 countries. The firm's new partner has extensive experience in providing counsel to clients in both the public and private sectors; cases involving cartel investigations, abuse of dominant market position and the telecommunications and energy sectors, where she is an expert. She also has comprehensive experience in administrative infringement proceedings, in cases brought before the Spanish courts, the European Commission, and the Courts of the European Union, as well as civil claims for damages.

Paloma teaches competition law in several postgraduate programmes, such as those offered by la Universidad Carlos III and the Spanish Energy Club. She has also published numerous articles in specialised journals and magazines related to competition law.

Baker McKenzie's new partner holds a Law Degree with a specialisation in Business Law from the Universidad CEU-San Pablo, as well as a Master's Degree in European Union Law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles. Prior to joining Baker McKenzie, Paloma worked for more than 18 years at MLAB Abogados, as well as 3 years at Howrey LLP. In addition, she worked in the Corporate and Regulatory Affairs Department of a mobile phone operator in Spain at the start of her career.
