Leading global law firm Baker McKenzie advised Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group on its negotiations regarding a hotel management agreement relating to the luxury hotel Savoy Baur en Ville in Zurich. The hotel, which is currently managed by Credit Suisse, first opened in 1838 and is a landmark property on Paradeplatz, the main square in the city center.

In early 2022, the hotel will close and undergo a comprehensive interior renovation to reposition the hotel as the market leader in the city. As part of the redesign, work will include reducing the total number of rooms, providing a more spacious accommodation. Upon completion of extensive renovations in 2024, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group will manage and re-brand the property as Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich.

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is the award-winning owner and operator of some of the world’s most luxurious hotels, resorts and residences. Having grown from its Asian roots into a global brand, the Group now operates 33 hotels and seven residences in 23 countries and territories, with each property reflecting the Group’s oriental heritage and unique sense of place.

The Zurich-based Baker McKenzie team advising Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group was led by Alexander Wyss (Partner, Transactions/Real Estate), who was assisted by Valentina Hirsiger (Associate, Commercial/Disputes), and Andrea Bolliger (Counsel, Tax).
