The guide will serve as a reference document for entrepreneurs and micro- entrepreneurs navigating a regulatory and legal environment by providing answers to questions frequently asked on a host of legal issues
Baker McKenzie, the world's leading law firm, and the Centro Mexicano Pro Bono launched the Legal Guide for Micro Businesses, a highly valuable consultation document for a key sector in the Mexican economy, that of micro and small companies, which greatly contribute to the economic and social development of the country.
Reinforcing his commitment to pro bono legal work, Raymundo Enríquez, Managing Partner of the Firm, mentioned, "Since 2017, we formalized our Corporate Social Responsibility Program in Mexico, through which we seek to positively impact our communities. With the generation of this guide, the Firm hopes to benefit small business owners, understanding that micro entrepreneurs are, in many cases, the basis of the national economy."
This project is a part of to the Firm's commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals of the Global Compact; specifically number eight that talks about Decent Work and Economic Development. In this regard, Rosario Lombera, Partner of the Firm and leader of the Pro Bono Committee mentioned, "We know that supporting micro-entrepreneurs with the information they need to formalize their operations in compliance with regulations is one of the factors that contribute to the development of our country."
The guide contains, which available only in Spanish, information collected on important laws and codes that regulate the actions of companies in Mexico, and addresses issues such as the incorporation of companies, social security, corporate affairs, conclusion of contracts, industrial and intellectual property, marketing and electronic commerce, commercial affairs and tax matters, which help the micro-entrepreneur to know his/her obligations in these areas.
The content of this guide was created using public information and was the result of the work of the Firm's interns, supervised and edited by the senior talent at Baker McKenzie, as well as the Corporate Social Responsibility department and the Pro Bono Committee.
