For the 12th consecutive year, Baker McKenzie has been named one of the Best Law Firms for Women by Working Mother magazine, recognizing the Firm's outstanding practices for retaining and promoting women lawyers.

In addition, Baker McKenzie is one of only a small number of firms named to Working Mother's Hall of Fame - recognizing those firms that have been on the list for 10 years or more.

The annual Best Law Firms for Women recognition honors 60 law firms that utilize best practices in recruiting, retaining, promoting and developing women lawyers. The ranking is based on law firm data regarding attorney demographics at different levels, schedule flexibility, paid time off and parental leaves, and development and retention of women.

"This honor is a testament to our commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace, and we are proud to be recognized as champions of work-life balance for our employees, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic as parents face added demands of e-learning challenges and limited childcare," said Colin Murray, Baker McKenzie's North America Chief Executive Officer. "We also know there is always more work to be done, and will continue to seek new ways to ensure our workplace is inclusive and that our leadership remains vigilant in their support of working parents."

Anna Brown, Baker McKenzie's Global Director of Diversity & Inclusion, added, "Baker McKenzie continues to make significant progress as a champion for women. We are proud that in North America, 53 percent of our new equity partners last year were women. To keep this momentum going, we will continue to develop innovative initiatives, like our women's sponsorship program (Leaders Investing for Tomorrow), designed to support our female talent's progression to key leadership roles."

Added Subha V. Barry, president of Working Mother Media: “Law firms on this year’s list were better prepared to respond to the effects of the pandemic because of their continued support of flextime and remote work for working parents and caregivers. We are proud to recognize their resilience and steadfast commitment to supporting gender equality.”

The Best Law Firms for Women recognition follows similar recognitions Baker McKenzie has received for its efforts in advancing a diverse and inclusive workplace. For example, the Firm was shortlisted for the 2019 Chambers USA D&I awards in the "Outstanding Firm for Furthering Diversity and Inclusion" category and has been honored for 11 consecutive years with a perfect score on HRC's Corporate Equality Index.
