Leading global law firm Baker McKenzie has hired Paula De Biase to manage the Madrid office's Financial Services Regulatory Department. With this hire, Baker McKenzie reinforces its current team and gives a strong boost to this strategic practice area.
Having Paula De Biase join the law firm is part of its goal to continue reinforcing and strengthening its financial regulation team, which is a fundamental part of Baker McKenzie's global financial practice group made up of more than 1200 lawyers in 77 offices worldwide. Its new partner has extensive experience in advising national and international companies on issues related to authorisation, creation, marketing and regulatory compliance of products, entities or businesses subject to financial supervision, including Fintech initiatives and new on-line or mobile products and solutions. In addition, Paula has spent her career defining investment structures and complex financial agreements, as well as assisting companies in corporate transactions and restructurings involving important cross-border regulatory-financial considerations. Her main clients include fund managers, venture capitalists, banks, payment institutions, investment service companies, insurance companies and other entities subject to regulatory supervision.
Paula De Biase holds a Law Degree from Universidad Federal – UPFE de Recife (Brazil), an Expert's Degree in Contractual Law from Universidad Pontificia Católica de São Paulo (Brazil) and a Master's Degree in Business Law from Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (Madrid). Previously, Paula worked at Pérez-Llorca for 13 years, where she was in charge of its Financial Services Department. In addition, Paula has been a professor and given courses on Banking Law as part of the program for a Master's in Legal Practice at the IE Business School; the program for a Master's in International Law, Trade and Relations at the ISDE Business School; the program for a Master's in Business Law at Universidad de Navarra and also the program for a Master's in Venture Capital and Entrepreneurship at INCARI/Fundación Rafael del Pino.
