Five specialists in the fields of White-Collar Crime/Compliance & Investigations, Real Estate and Tax join Baker McKenzie’s Geneva team as of September 2020
International law firm Baker McKenzie is reinforcing its Geneva team with five experts in the fields of White-Collar Crime/Compliance & Investigations, Real Estate and Tax as of 1 September 2020, thereby underlining the importance of the Geneva office for the French-speaking Swiss market.
The existing team of Simon Ntah as partner and Adriana Garcia Kapeller and Louise Steinfels as associates will join Baker McKenzie’s Geneva office as of 1 September 2020, expanding the renowned White-Collar Crime/Compliance & Investigations Practice under Zurich partner Christoph Kurth. All three have extensive experience in the field of national and international white-collar crime, as well as in all areas of national and international dispute resolution. “We are delighted to have Simon and his team join us. This now enables us to support our Swiss and multinational clients in Geneva in partnership with our global team. The new addition also significantly boosts our expertise in the area of white-collar crime investigation in Switzerland,” says Christoph Kurth, Head of the Swiss Compliance & Investigations Practice Group.
Another new recruit at Baker McKenzie is Charles Gschwind, a well-established expert in the area of real estate transactions. As Senior Associate, he will act as Co-Head of the Geneva Practice Group alongside Olivier Ducrey, thereby boosting Baker McKenzie’s renowned Real Estate Practice in Switzerland. Olivier Ducrey says: “I’m very much looking forward to working with Charles. He’s a perfect fit in terms of what we need to take the next step forward in developing our Real Estate Practice in Geneva”. Finally, Baker McKenzie will also be reinforcing its tax practice in Geneva from 1 October 2020 with the addition of Nathan Bouvier as an associate.
About Simon Ntah | Partner, Compliance & Investigations
Simon Ntah joins Baker McKenzie’s White Collar Crime/Compliance & Investigations Practice in Switzerland as a partner. He previously worked at Ochsner & Associes, where he spent more than nine years involved in the areas of white collar crime, compliance and investigations, and litigation. Simon Ntah is also the founder of the online platform Legalonline – a legal service provider and a service for the placement of lawyers in nine fields of law.
In addition to his work as a lawyer, Ntah is also involved in lawyer education and training. He is a member of the board of the Geneva Bar Association and the affiliated Commission for Criminal Law. Since 2018 he has also been a co-organiser of the Criminal Law Forum in Geneva.
Simon Ntah studied law at the Universities of Geneva and Utrecht (NL) before successfully completing an LL.M. postgraduate course at the University of San Diego (US). He was admitted to the bar in 2005.
About Charles Gschwind | Senior Associate, Real Estate Transactions / Co-Head of the Geneva Real Estate Practice Group
Charles Gschwind specialises in real estate transactions of all kinds, in particular asset deals, large-scale portfolio transactions, acquisitions of real estate companies and the financing of real estate portfolios. As Co-Head, he will lead and further expand the Geneva Real Estate Practice Group together with Olivier Ducrey.
Charles Gschwind publishes regularly in his specialist areas and is a popular speaker at expert conferences and seminars. In the current issue of the Legal 500 ranking, Charles Gschwind is listed as the Rising Star in Real Estate & Construction.
Gschwind studied law at the University of Freiburg (CH) and was admitted to the bar in 2012. He also completed MBA studies at the London Business School and at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Having grown up bilingually in German and French, Charles Gschwind works in his mother tongues as well as in English.
About Adriana Garcia Kapeller | Associate, White-Collar Crime / Compliance & Investigations
Adriana Garcia Kapeller joins Baker McKenzie from Ochsner & Associes together with Simon Ntah and Louise Steinfels. She worked as an associate for her previous employer for two and a half years, focusing mainly on dispute resolution as well as compliance and investigation cases. At Baker McKenzie she will focus primarily on matters relating to white collar crime/compliance and investigations.
Adriana Garcia Kapeller studied law at the Universities of Basel, Geneva and Ottawa (CA) and was admitted to the bar in 2017.

Louise Steinfels joins Baker McKenzie from Ochsner & Associes together with Simon Ntah and Adriana Garcia Kapeller She was an associate with her previous employer for just over two years, specialising mainly in dispute resolution as well as compliance and investigation cases. At Baker McKenzie she will focus primarily on matters relating to white collar crime/compliance and investigations.
Louise Steinfels studied law at the Universities of Freiburg (CH), Geneva and Stockholm (SE) and was admitted to the bar in 2018.
About Nathan Bouvier | Associate, Tax
Nathan Bouvier reinforces our Tax Practice in Geneva as of 1 October 2020. He was previously an associate at Lenz & Staehelin, where he specialised in advising companies and private individuals on national and international tax law issues.
Nathan Bouvier studied law at the universities of Geneva and Zurich and was admitted to the bar in 2019.
