On 16 September 2020, Embracer Group AB announced that it has acquired 100% of the shares in Vertigo Games Holding B.V. (Vertigo Games) from its various shareholders. The purchase price is EUR 50 million, of which EUR 40 million was paid in cash and EUR 10 million in shares in Embracer. An additional payment of a maximum amount of EUR 65 million is subject to the achievement of various milestones.

Vertigo Games is a virtual reality game studio. The company is best known for its vr-zombie shooter Arizona Sunshine. This acquisition fits in with Embracer's strategy of expanding its group activities into the rapidly growing virtual reality sector. With this acquisition leading virtual reality experts join Embracer.
