Baker McKenzie has been shortlisted for the Chambers Diversity & Inclusion 2020 North America Awards, which "celebrate the fantastic achievements of firms and individuals who are furthering the advancement of diversity and inclusion across the USA and Canada."

The Firm is on the shortlist for the following three categories:

  • Diversity & Inclusion Lawyer of the Year - Washington DC Office Managing Partner Maurice Bellan is a finalist in this category, which recognizes a partner for dedication and commitment to diversity programs and organizing events/discussions to further the advancement of one or more strand of diversity and inclusion. Since his appointment as managing partner of the Firm's Washington, DC office in July 2019, Bellan has made significant strides in the area of diversity and inclusion, including a nearly 10 percent increase in ethnic and gender diversity in the Washington office.
  • Outstanding Ally Award - Former Chicago Office Managing Partner Regine Corrado is a finalist in this category, which recognizes a partner for outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion in the legal profession as an ally. Under her direct leadership, the Firm's North America Women's Initiative has successfully aided in the advancement of women to leadership roles within the Firm as well as in the retention of women lawyers.
  • Inclusive Firm of the Year - Baker McKenzie is a finalist in this category, which celebrates a commitment to increasing the opportunities for and the representation of diverse lawyers. Baker McKenzie has a comprehensive diversity and inclusion strategy that encompasses novel initiatives aimed at advancing an inclusive workplace for all — one that encourages authenticity and appreciates the multidimensional aspects of our diversity, as well as customized efforts designed to address global and local community diversity needs.
