Leading global law firm Baker McKenzie was named one of Stonewall's Top Global Employers 2020. Stonewall’s Top Global Employers is the definitive list showcasing the best multinational employers for lesbian, gay, bi and trans staff.

The Global Index enables organizations to navigate the challenge of upholding inclusive values globally and make progress towards LGBT equality, no matter where in the world they operate. It also gives organizations a clear and rigorous action plan for their work across the globe.

This year, 17 organizations were recognized as Stonewall Top Global Employers 2020. They are marked on employee policy, training, staff engagement, leadership, monitoring, and procurement, community engagement, understanding local context, global mobility and additional in-country activity.

Constanze Ulmer-Eilfort, Chair of the Firm's Global Diversity & Inclusion committee said "Being named once again as one of Stonewall's Top Global Employer's is a fantastic achievement. At Baker McKenzie we are proud to be known as an LGBT+ inclusive workplace and believe that we should celebrate the differences that unite us. As a global firm we are not neutral - we will always protect, support and stand beside our LGBT+ colleagues."

Baker McKenzie was also awarded the Global Trans Inclusion Award 2020. The award demonstrates the Firm's commitment to championing trans inclusion in the workplace. Following the implementation of a number of trans-inclusive policies in various offices across the Firm, we have strived to ensure that trans and non-binary staff are supported wherever they are across the world.

"Both of these awards recognize the true commitment from our leadership and colleagues across the Firm who strive to create an environment in which our LGBT+ colleagues feel like they truly belong regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity or expression." said David Palumbo, Toronto Corporate Partner and Global Chair of the Firm's LGBT+ Steering Committee.

Nancy Kelley, Chief Executive at Stonewall commented: "There is so much left to do to ensure that lesbian, gay, bi and trans employees feel able to be themselves at work, no matter where they are. We’re proud to work with Baker McKenzie, who operate in some extremely complex environments, to create workplaces that are inclusive and supportive of LGBT people and equality."
