Leading global law firm Baker McKenzie is delighted to announce that its London office will be relocating to new office space in 280 Bishopsgate, EC2M 4RB in the heart of the City.

The Firm, which has over 1000 people based in London, will be moving from its current location at 100 New Bridge Street in late 2023. It will occupy the upper floors of 280 Bishopsgate, approximately 150,000 square feet.

This relocation marks a significant milestone in the Firm's long term growth plans which are focused on expanding its presence in London; a key strategic growth priority for Baker McKenzie in the future.

Alex Chadwick, Baker McKenzie's London Managing Partner, says: "This is a hugely exciting move for us. Moving into the heart of the City of London represents our long-term commitment beyond COVID-19 to retaining an office base in what is an incredibly important financial centre to the Firm. It is clear evidence that, despite the current situation, expanding our presence in London remains a key strategic growth priority for us in the future. This requires a suitable office environment – a new, modern and eco-friendly space in which we can collaborate, cultivate our Firm culture, embrace new technologies, and meet and interact with each other and our clients. In light of the current pandemic, this feels more important now than ever before.”

The new offices at 280 Bishopsgate are currently undergoing a complete refurbishment and will provide Baker McKenzie's people and its clients with a modern, inspiring, more eco-friendly and sustainable space in which to work. The Firm will be working closely with its developers and architects, Hassell, as well as internal consultation groups comprised of its employees to design an optimal future work space.

280 Bishopsgate was chosen because it best matched the Firm’s requirements, including: its excellent location and transport links; the large and open floor plates; green credentials; access to a green space, roof and on-floor terraces; the ability to create a dedicated reception area and a premium experience for our clients; and the amenities of the surrounding area.

Giles Morse, Arax Properties’ Partner, says: “Baker McKenzie’s commitment to ESG accords with our own and makes this a very exciting partnership. We are delighted to welcome Baker McKenzie to the building and look forward to delivering a market-leading office for the employees of the Firm.”

Baker McKenzie has been advised by Savills on the real estate acquisition, with legal advice provided by Slaughter and May.
