The international business firm Baker McKenzie is strengthening its Tax and Compliance activities in France with the arrival of Renaud Jaune as Senior Counsel.

An economist by training, having graduated in 1998 from the École nationale des impôts, Renaud Jaune began his career at the Direction des Vérifications nationales et internationales. He then attended the École nationale d’administration and was recruited to the Ministry of Finance on graduating from ENA. After a stint at the Conseil des ventes aux enchères publiques, in 2009 Renaud was appointed E1 Bureau Chief at the tax legislation office, where he was in charge of negotiating treaties and mutual agreement procedures for the elimination of double taxation. He drew from this experience to complete his PhD law thesis on the regulation of transfer pricing.

In addition to numerous civil service positions, in particular as Maître des requêtes au Conseil d’Etat, Renaud Jaune has worked as a lecturer in public finance at Science Po. Currently Assistant Director for consulting, strategic analysis and international affairs at the French anti-corruption agency AFA, he will join Baker McKenzie in September 2020.
Renaud Jaune will help to consolidate the Baker McKenzie Tax Practice teams in Paris, in particular by bringing to the table his expertise in international taxation. Thanks to his experience at AFA, he will also be able to provide support to the teams in charge of Compliance & Investigations.

At a time when taxation and compliance are becoming increasingly transnational, providing support to Baker McKenzie’s talented teams in Paris is a challenge that I am delighted to take up” declared Renaud Jaune. “Baker McKenzie is particularly well reputed for its ability to assist its clients across borders; I am happy to be part of this ambition!”
Eric Lasry, Managing Partner of Baker McKenzie Paris and head of the Compliance & Investigations practice, is delighted by Renaud’s arrival: “Renaud Jaune will be able to put his expertise to good use by assisting our clients in two of the firm’s key areas: taxation and compliance. His experience at AFA will provide decisive insights on the fight against corruption issues facing our clients.”

Véronique Millischer, Partner in charge of the Tax Practice at Baker McKenzie Paris, underlined: “Renaud Jaune is a leading figure on questions of international taxation in France. His arrival brings significant added value to our teams, especially thanks to his strong and precious institutional vision.”
