Baker McKenzie announces the appointment of a new equity partner, Michele Santocchini, and three new salary partners, Barbara Faini, Gaetano Iorio Fiorelli and Antonio Luigi Vicoli.

Michele Santocchini, active in the area of tax, provides tax assistance to leading Italian and foreign multinationals, with particular reference to issues related to extraordinary M&A operations, international and domestic tax planning, and tax litigation. Mr. Santocchini leads the tax team of the Rome office of the Firm, assisting clients belonging to a broad spectrum of industries such as the digital economy, defense, energy, pharmaceuticals, consumer goods and telecommunications.

Barbara Faini, active in the area of tax, mainly deals with litigation in the field of national, EU and international taxation and assists clients during tax audits, or in the definition of tax disputes through accession, conciliatory, friendly and arbitration procedures. Ms. Faini also deals with issues that require the application of international tax conventions, indirect taxes and customs duties.

Gaetano Iorio Fiorelli, active in the area of dispute resolution, specializes in litigation and has significant experience in the field of financial and contractual litigation, including arbitration. For years, Mr. Iorio Fiorelli has assisted clients in judicial and extrajudicial consultancy on corporate crises. Since 2004, he has been a contract professor of international and EU law at the Bocconi University of Milan.

Antonio Luigi Vicoli, active in the area of employment, assists both national companies and multinational groups in all sectors relating to the management of HR. In particular, he deals with the management of the HR aspects of M&A projects and other important multijurisdictional projects; drafts different types of employment contracts; manages both individual and collective layoffs; conducts union negotiations; and drafts and revises company regulations and policies, manuals and codes of conduct, with particular attention for companies active in the consumer goods and retail and pharmaceutical industries.

During Financial Year 2020, Baker McKenzie also added 68 lateral partner hires, demonstrating the Firm's continued commitment to investing in top talent across the globe. Combining this year's promotions and new lateral talent, the Firm added 152 partners to its ranks.
