Baker McKenzie has been named the "Best Governance Service for Families" at the 5th Annual WealthBriefingAsia Greater China for Excellence 2020 Awards.
Showcasing "best of breed" providers in the region’s private banking, wealth management and trusted advisor communities, the awards were designed to recognise banks, teams and individuals deemed to have "demonstrated innovation and excellence during 2019."
Baker McKenzie was noted by the WealthBriefingAsia editorial team for successfully "helping many clients in solving their problems in family governance ranging from issues like cross-border tax planning, philanthropic purposes, multi-generational gaps or conflicts, regulatory issues or other operational concerns arising out of businesses."
Commenting on the awards, Steven Sieker, Managing Partner of Baker McKenzie's Hong Kong office and also the former Asia Pacific chair of the Firm's Tax Practice, said: "We are delighted to be named the leading advisory firm for family offices. We would like to thank WealthBriefingAsia for this recognition and look forward to continue assisting our clients navigate complex tax and wealth-management-related issues."
Stephen Harris, CEO of ClearView Financial Media and publisher of WealthBriefingAsia, was first to extend his congratulations to all the winners. He said: "These awards were judged solely on the basis of entrants’ submissions and their response to a number of specific questions, which had to be answered focusing on the client experience and not exclusively quantitative performance metrics.
That is a unique, and I believe, compelling feature. These awards recognise the very best operators in the private client industry, with ‘independence,’ ‘integrity’ and ‘genuine insight’ as the watchwords of the judging process - such that the awards truly reflect excellence in wealth management."
The Firm's Wealth Management Group regularly advises high net worth individuals and families, trust companies, private banks and other financial institutions on a wide range of regulatory and commercial issues. The teams in Hong Kong and Singapore have been consistently ranked by Chambers Asia Pacific as top-tier private client practices.
