Baker McKenzie Wong & Leow has successfully advised Goldbell Evolution Network (GEN) Pte Ltd, a member of the Goldbell Group, on obtaining its Capital Markets Services (CMS) Licence from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), which allows them to launch their new private debt investment platform, GEN. GEN is an innovative platform which will provide for both investors and companies to seek alternative investment and obtain debt financing, respectively.
Principal Stephanie Magnus, who is also Asia Pacific Head of Financial Institutions at Baker McKenzie, and financial services Senior Associate Ying Yi Liew advised GEN in relation to its licence application, structuring and regulatory compliance issues relating to the setting up of the platform and as a CMS license holder. MAS had awarded the license to GEN in May 2019.
"With the launch of GEN today, we see a truly innovative platform introduced to the market, where they are meeting both the needs of the investing public, as well as companies who are seeking for alternative ways of fund raising," Stephanie comments. "Unlike other platforms out there, GEN offers a co-investment model which is the biggest differentiator that GEN is providing to both ends of the market, and we highly anticipate the market's response to it."
GEN will focus on assessing investments in property and vehicles.
