Andrew Sagor joins the Firm from Kirkland & Ellis

Baker McKenzie announced today that Andrew Sagor has joined the Firm as a partner in New York, as the Firm continues to expand its transactional practice in key financial centers globally.

Andrew joins the Firm from Kirkland & Ellis where he was a partner in the firm’s debt finance practice and advised leading private equity firms and their portfolio companies, privately held and publicly traded Fortune 500 companies and  other financial institutions in a wide variety of large-cap and middle-market financing transactions, including major leveraged buyouts, domestic and cross-border acquisitions and other leveraged financings, senior-secured debt, high-yield, bridge and mezzanine financings, workouts and restructurings, asset-based facilities, and purchases of distressed debt. He has advised on transactions ranging in size from tens of millions to in excess of $20 billion. He will serve as co-chair to the North American leveraged finance practice with Partner Garry Jaunal who joined the Firm from Kirkland several years ago.

“Andrew is a well-known, highly skilled lawyer. His hire is a big win for our growing transactional practice,” said Colin Murray, Baker McKenzie's North American Chief Executive Officer. "We’re very excited to welcome him to the Firm.”

“Andrew’s expertise is key to growing our leveraged finance offerings. His joining us signals our strong commitment to building the Firm’s transactional capabilities, particularly in the private equity sector,” said Alan Zoccolillo, chair of Baker McKenzie's North America Corporate & Securities Practice.

Andrew added, "I am thrilled to join Baker McKenzie and be a part of its tremendous global platform which will enable me to serve our clients effectively in today’s dynamic deal environment. I am very excited to start working with my new colleagues across the Firm and contribute to the Firm’s team-oriented, premier client service culture. The Firm’s finance practice is burgeoning; this is a terrific opportunity for me to bolster its growth and to help expand upon the Firm’s already strong private equity platform.”

Andrew earned his B.A. from Amherst College and his J.D. from New York University School of Law.
