Federico Cuadra Del Carmen Returns to Serve as Key Member of the LatAm Practice
Building on the strength of 15 offices in Latin America and numerous hubs of regional expertise throughout the Firm, Baker McKenzie is making a strategic investment in the creation of a US base for its Latin America Practice. Centered in Miami, but drawing on a seasoned team of lawyers in New York, as well as other US offices, the Latin America Practice serves as a bridge to our Firm's extensive platform and experience as the largest global law firm in Latin America.
"Baker McKenzie has a long tradition of working across borders to serve our clients," said Jaime Trujillo, Acting Global Chair and Chair of the Latin America Region, Baker McKenzie. "Our prime location in Miami, known as the gateway to the Americas, positions us as the bridge for U.S.-based clients to effectively execute projects in Latin America, and vice versa. These cross-market insights will help us serve our clients in the Americas and beyond.”
"We have advised on some of the most significant inbound and outbound matters in the Americas region," said Colin Murray, Baker McKenzie's North American Chief Executive. "The Latin America Practice service offering marks a new chapter in the Firm's well-established history in Miami and in the Latin America region."
As a part of this strategy, transactional attorney, Federico Cuadra Del Carmen has returned to Baker McKenzie. Based in Miami, and fluent in both Spanish and English, Federico has significant experience working across borders in the Americas on domestic and cross-border M&A, private equity and corporate transactions. Federico is the first of several key hires that the Firm will make to build out the Latin America Practice further.
"We are excited to have Federico back at the Firm. His experience working on a wide variety of corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions in North America and Latin America will be a great benefit to our multinational clients," said Scott Brandman, Managing Partner of Baker McKenzie's New York and Miami offices.
Federico was an associate with Baker until July 2018, when he left to join Hughes Hubbard. He received his MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School with concentrations in International Trade and Finance and Business and Government Policy, his JD from the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, and his BA from the University of Miami in Economics and International Studies. In addition, he served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Virginia M. Kendall, United States Court for The Northern District of Illinois while at law school and as a Teaching Fellow during his time at Harvard.
