Baker McKenzie Zurich has advised the shareholders of the leading global impact investment manager BlueOrchard Finance Limited on the sale of a majority stake in the company to Schroders. Schroders has become the first large European fund group to make a sizeable investment in the impact investing market which makes this deal a "first of its kind" transaction and a deal which will set a benchmark for future deals in the impact investing space.
Partnering with Schroders will enable BlueOrchard to further drive innovation and growth and increase its impact across emerging and frontier markets. Schroders’ stable ownership structure and heritage is aligned with BlueOrchard’s long-term investment philosophy. Sharing values and the desire to generate substantial impact together, Schroders is BlueOrchard’s preferred strategic partner. Following the acquisition, Peter Harrison (Schroders Group CEO), Georg Wunderlin (Global Head of Private Assets), and Stephen Mills (Executive Chairman of Schroder Adveq) will join the board of directors of BlueOrchard. There will be no changes to the management team, processes or strategies that BlueOrchard manages.
