Wong & Partners, the member firm of Baker McKenzie International in Malaysia, won Malaysia Law Firm of the Year for the second consecutive year at the Asian Legal Business (ALB) Malaysia Law Awards 2019. The awards, held last night at the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur, was attended by private practitioners from leading local and international firms and in-house counsel.

The Firm's Intellectual Property practice also took home the IP Law Firm of the Year award, marking it the fourth time that the Firm has won this accolade. Our Dispute Resolution and Intellectual Property head of practice, Kherk Ying Chew was also recognised as Woman Lawyer of the Year, both in her breadth and depth of work, as well as for her role in driving the Diversity and Inclusion agenda at Wong & Partners.

"I am very grateful to ALB and the judges for giving me the award last night, what with the calibre of all the nominees in the Woman Lawyer of the Year category," said Kherk Ying. "This also motivates me to continue to bring more Diversity and Inclusion conversations with our clients, and training the next generation of female leaders for the legal industry."

"With gratitude to our clients and peers, I am very proud to receive this award on behalf of the Firm, which recognises our innovation-led practices and commitment to the Malaysian legal market. Receiving this for the second consecutive time, off the back of our 20th Anniversary, is very meaningful to us," said Andre Gan, managing partner. "I would also like to congratulate our fellow winners for the night."
